Matthew Rice Obituary
It breaks our hearts to announce that Matthew Rice, 30, of Redfield, NY, formerly of Vestal died suddenly November 11, 2023. He is survived by his beloved family; his parents Kevin and Judy Rice; his siblings Shannon Rice and Kyle (Sue Cullen) Rice; his fiancee Shelley along with her children Karen, Sara and Billy and her grandchildren Layla, Amelia, Harper and Beau; Aunts and Uncles Bobby (Danielle) Brown, Ada Rice, Dick Jeffrey, Judy and Pat VanTuyl, Margie Rice, Jimmy and Carol Rice, Mary and Nick Serafini, Rob and Kathy Rice, Bill and Michele Rice; special niece and nephew Jocelyn and Hunter, along with numerous cousins and friends and his beloved cat Mossy. He was preceded in death by his four grandparents Dan and Margaret Rice and Herbie and Sheila Brown. Matt was a graduate of Vestal High School Class of 2011. He enjoyed construction and landscaping, and was the founder of Matthew Rice Construction. Most recently he was a Postal Clerk in Camden, NY. An avid outdoors-man, Matt enjoyed hiking, camping, hunting and fishing with his family and friends and all the memories he made at deer camp. His passion was fishing the Salmon River. He was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and loved cats and John Deere tractors. May you rest in Heaven with Grandma Rice making Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup with Petey by your side.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 pm Monday at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm. Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited to St. Michael's Recreation Center at 296 Clinton St. Binghamton for a reception at 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to NYS Council Trout Unlimited for its Salmon River Youth Program, c/o Tom Loproto, 68 Murray Dr., Westbury, NY 11590.
