Matthew Lyle Roussey, 61, of Columbia City, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
He was born on June 10, 1964, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Robert L. Roussey and Carolyn A. (Elliott) Rhoades.
Matthew proudly served his country in the Air National Guard 122nd Fighter Wing for four years before receiving an honorable discharge. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and later retired from Fort Wayne Metals. He also had been employed with Rea Magnet in Fort Wayne.
A man with a generous heart, Matthew volunteered with the Allen County Humane Society and had a deep love for animals, especially his dogs. He enjoyed attending concerts with family and friends, and was well-known for his talent and passion for cooking.
He is survived by his children, Marcus (Kelsi) Roussey of New Haven, Indiana; Kirstin (Taylor) Dybwad of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and Dustin Voirol of Hoagland, Indiana; his mother, Carolyn Rhoades of Columbia City, Indiana; siblings Ramona (Jim) Wiegman of Columbia City, Indiana; Karen Roussey of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Rod (Selda) Roussey of Columbia City, Indiana; Michael (Pam) Roussey of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and Richard (Kristi) Roussey of Fort Wayne, Indiana; four beloved grandchildren, Ellis, Wells, Logan, and Kali; and his life partner, Donna Lepper of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert (Peggy) Roussey, and his brother, Timothy Roussey.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, with Life Celebrant Molly Farthing officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Monroeville Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
Preferred memorials are to Humane Fort Wayne and the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are by Zwick & Jahn Funeral Homes, Jacobs Chapel of Monroeville, Indiana.
