Matthew P. Sitton

Matthew Paul Sitton, 36, of Independence, Missouri passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2024 at Royer's New Salem Funeral Home, Independence, Missouri; burial following in New Salem Cemetery, Independence, Missouri. The family will receive friends at 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Family and friends are encouraged to wear Chief's attire or Matt's favorite color, red, to the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brandy Sitton for their children.
Matt was born on April 28, 1987 in Kansas City, Missouri son of Rickey and Kathy (Velasquez) Sitton. He graduated from Van Horn High School in 2005 and then went on to marry Brandy James on February 20, 2015 and they began to build a life and family. Matt worked at Ford for 9 years, where he made many close friends. He was a loving husband and father, an avid Chiefs fan and had a love for music. Anyone that knew him, knew of his love for Strange Music and Linkin Park. He was a big kid at heart, that still loved Nickelodeon cartoons, super heroes and was always plotting to play pranks on any unsuspecting person. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his wife and children. Matt was big hearted, vibrant, and radiated light. He was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and amazing sense of humor. He was generous, loyal and brave. Matt accepted everyone with an open heart, open arms and a perpetual smile. His boisterous laugh was infectious and could always be heard throughout any room. He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his family and friends. He truly loved each of them – and if you knew him, you knew it. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Paul; his paternal grandparents, Monroe and Leon Sitton; and his maternal grandma, Pauline Velasquez.
Matt is survived by his wife, Brandy, of the home; two children of the home: daughter, Kenlee and son, Karter; parents, Rickey and Kathy Sitton of Independence, MO; three sisters: Cynthia Sitton of Independence, MO; Susan Sitton of Independence, MO; and Stacy Sitton-Sherley (John) of Kearney, MO; maternal grandpa, Francisco Velasquez of Independence, MO; many nieces and nephews; many aunts and uncles; and in-laws, Kenny and Rae Ann James of Independence, MO; brother-in-law, Clint James of Independence, MO.
