Matt was a truck driver by occupation. He attended Hamtramck High School. His hobbies included fishing, ice fishing, hunting, camping, reading and watching Sci-Fi movies.
Matt is survived by his wife of 56 years, Suzanne, daughters, Patricia (Cameron) Karry, Michelle (Todd) McCallum, Rene (Dave) Holland, Barbara (Kevin) Lonergan and Laura (Mark) Wenglasz, 21 grandchildren, Lauren, Liam, Jamison, Jacob, Donald, Hollie, Grace, Gabrielle, Alec, Dylan, Noah, Suzie, Sam, Kylee, Kadin, Kadin, Ronald, Owen, Matthew, Sebastian and Abraham, 5 great-grandchildren, Willow, Brooke, Jane, Lucy and Shiloh, siblings, Cindy (Thaddeus) Bronowski, Ricky (Bonnie) Szczesiul, Alice (Ron) Kostun, Tony (Heidi) Szczesiul and Gordon (Denise) Szczesiul.
Preceded in death by his parents, Albin Szczesiul and Frances Rose Dely Szczesiul.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements in care of Jowett Funeral Home-New Haven.
