I've known Matt since probably 2nd or 3rd grade. He's always been one of a kind. He could be big, loud and sometimes shocking. He could also be caring kind and deep-thinking. He was at home in the woods, on the water or behind a guitar. His rebel spirit and sense of justice could literally have him carrying crosses to protest an unfairness.
I think my best memory is from a friend's wedding at the Wakulla Lodge. There's a grand piano in the main room and Matt sat down to tickle the ivories. I don't think I've ever seen him shine so brightly. He nailed every song, had the whole room singing along, hit the high notes and the lows. It was magical. He was one of a kind.

We met Matt about 2 years ago through our son who had been friends with him a long time. Our son was very sick and in need of help, and Matt showed up to help him through his troubles by driving him to Shands Hospital and guiding him through his trials. We will always value Matt's friendship and deeply regret his loss. God bless him and all who were lucky enough to know him. Kathie Lamarche

I met Matt in 2001 at Love´s garage. I was new to Tallahassee and only knew a few people there. I went to grab some VW parts and while there I heard this loud and boisterous voice telling fish stories, particularly Redfish. So I walked over and asked where could I go and catch a redfish. He looked me up and down then said, "I can´t tell you where exactly but for 1 dollar I will draw you a map." So I put my money on the table and got a pen and paper for Matt. The next day I found myself next to the channel marker and the oyster bar on my map and shortly there after had my limit of redfish. Thus began my 23 year friendship with Matt Williams.
