Sarah Cardona Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bevis Funeral Home - Tallahassee on Jul. 9, 2025.
Sarah Elizabeth Stewart Cardona lost her battle with pancreatic cancer on 5 July 2025. She was 78 years old.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church on Saturday, August 9th, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
Sarah was born and raised in Leesville, LA. After graduating from high school where she was very active serving as president of the student body and editor of the school newspaper, she attended Baylor University. She received a BS in sociology and then attended LSU where she got her Masters of Social Work. She worked as a social worker for 14 years. While at home for Christmas break, she met the love of her life a young captain in the Army, and they were married 2 years later. She loved being an army wife and was able to continue working wherever they were stationed.
After moving to Tampa Sarah decided to change career and after getting her MBA at the University of Tampa she worked in the area of Human Resources for a bank, a mobile phone company and a pharmaceutical company.
Then they had the opportunity to move to Cedar Key, an island off the west coast of Florida with a population of 800 people. During the 18 years that they lived there she was a substitute teacher and was active in the Lions Club and Christ Episcopal Church. These were some of her happiest days.
Realizing that they weren't getting any younger and that it was 60 miles to the nearest doctor from Cedar Key, they moved to the Continuing Care Retirement Community, Westminister Oaks of Tallahassee, FL in 2016.
Sarah loved to travel, and they went around the world, and they took many other trips, both on the rivers in Europe and in the US. She was also an avid mystery book reader.
Sarah was preceded by her parents, James Warren Stewart and Tommye Craft Stewart and her brother James Warren Stewart, Jr.
Left to remember Sarah are her beloved husband of 55 years, Lannie, her brother in law David and sister in law Sharon, sister in law Jacqueline, niece Shannon Harris, niece Kara Messer, nephew Lee Cardona, great niece Sarah P Cardona, great nephews Deandre Harris, David Messer, Noah Messer and great great niece Evangelina Kaci Palacios, cousins Melissa Bradley, Robert T Stewart, Pat Stewart, Lili Ann Nolin, Susan McDonald and Mary Lou Barnickel.
