Mattie Knapp of Louisville, KY gained her angel wings on November 4th at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, KY at the age of 82.
Mattie was born on August 21, 1943, to the late Anna Smith and Walter Bunch. She was a childcare giver the majority of her life. She enjoyed nothing more than children. The love she showed was a blessing to all that knew her. Her love for her family and friends was undeniable. When you were in her presence, you knew love was there, She was a beautiful woman inside and out. She loved to cook for her friends and family, play scrabble, words with friends, shop, get her hair and nails done, watch UK basketball, visit her family and friends, and share the love of Jesus with everyone she encountered. She was a life-long member of Fisherville Church of Christ.
Mattie is survived by her loving son, Mark Allen. Her sisters Anna Coulter, Mary Silvers (Joe Silvers), Janice Botts (Gary Botts). Her granddaughters Ashley Chinn (Jeffery Chinn) and Stacey Veteto (Daniel Veteto). Her great-grandchildren Jordan Terry (Asher Terry), Daniel Veteto (Shayla Veteto), Alison Landram (Trenton Landram), Jade Shoe (A.J. Shoe), Ethan Chinn (Destiny Shrull), Sophie Jones (Dakota Jones), Jesse Chinn. Her great-great-grandchildren, Carter Holland, Tanner Shoe, Maeleigh Veteto, and Henry Landram, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Knapp, her daughter Martha Allen, her mother Anna Smith, her father Walter Bunch, and her brother-in-law Dennis Coulter.
Funeral services will be held at Louisville Memorial Gardens East Funeral Home, 11601 Ballardsville Raod, Louisville, KY 40241. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, beginning at 11 AM. The funeral service will begin at 1 PM, at the funeral home, with burial following the service. Danny Veteto to officiate services.
Mom, Granny, Sis, you are gone from here on earth, but one day we will see you again. Until then, watch over us from above.
