Mattie Louise Tisdale

Mattie Louise Tisdale, 94, of Baltimore, Maryland, departed this life on August 4, 2025. Surrounded by the love of her family, she joined the loved ones who were called to be with our Lord and Savior. She was born on November 13, 1930, in Arrington, Virginia, to the late Lawrence C. and Mary F. Jackson.
Mattie was preceded in death by her beloved siblings: Corrine Spencer Jordan, Lawrence C. Jackson Jr., Susie Dunlap, Russell Jackson, Hazel Toronto, Fred Jackson, and Marshall Jackson. She is survived by her loving siblings: Mildred Ferguson, Emmitt Jackson, Mary Griffin, Gloria White, and Barbara "Bobbie" Stewart.
She was married to the late James Walker Tisdale. Before moving to Baltimore to raise her family, Mattie was baptized and attended school in Nelson County, Virginia. She was the devoted mother of Eula M. (Eva) Dandy, James Lee Tisdale, the late Viola Louise Tisdale, Denise Thomas, and Mary Emma Robinson. Mattie was blessed with 16 grandchildren-Regina, Sheila, Michelle, Denise, Terrie, Shillrell, Jerry, Janyetta, Lisa, Derrick, James Jr., Andrew, Antonia, Robin, Isaiah, and Paul-along with 34 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Mattie enjoyed reading her Bible and hosting her Bible study group, sharing her love of scripture and fellowship with those around her. She will be remembered as a beautiful and caring woman who loved her family and friends deeply in her own quiet, humble way. She was a strong, determined, and independent woman who touched her entire family and made sure they always knew they were loved.
