Maureen Elise Edwards

Maureen E. Edwards, 91, formerly of Vandling and Clinton Township, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, October 29, 2025 at Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart. Her beloved husband of more than 70 years, Robert T. Edwards preceded her in death on June 30, 2025.

Born September 12, 1934 in Clifton, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Joseph F. and Catherine (Dvorscak) O'Connor.

Maureen and Bob were foster parents to many children through the years. Together, they found great fulfillment in opening their home and hearts to young people in need. Maureen also loved animals and enjoyed caring for many throughout her life. She was a kind and loving lady who will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by a niece, Christine O'Connor Surendra; a nephew, George; a sister-in-law, Doris; and great-nieces.

She was also preceded in death by a niece, Kathleen O'Connor Boelhouwer, and a brother, Joseph O'Connor.

Maureen's family would like to thank the staff at Wayne Woodlands Manor for the wonderful care she received during the brief time she was there.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 7, 2025, with Pastor Dean Zeiset officiating at the Clinton Center Cemetery, 1000 Belmont Turnpike, Waymart, PA. Everyone attending is asked to go directly to the cemetery on Friday.

Friends and family may visit from 6-8 PM on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at the Howell Family Funeral Home, Inc., Edward R. Howell, Funeral Director, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Maureen's memory to Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Drive, Honesdale, PA 18431.
