Gadsden, AL - Mrs. Maureen Huntley Budlong, age 62, formerly of Chesterfield, SC, peacefully entered into rest on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 8, 2024, in the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, officiated by Brent Taylor with a special presentation by the Nurses Honor Guard of SC. Interment will follow in the Huntley Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
Born on October 8, 1962, in Naples, Italy, Mrs. Budlong was the daughter of Georgina O’Nolan Huntley and the late John Austin Huntley. An accomplished individual, Maureen was a proud graduate of Chesterfield High School (1980) and furthered her education by earning an Associate’s degree in Business from Chesterfield-Marlboro Technical College. She then obtained an Associate’s in Nursing from Florence-Darlington Technical College, followed by a Bachelor’s in Science and Nursing from Cabarrus College of Health Science. In 2018, she completed her MBA, achieving a 4.0 GPA and graduating with honors at each institution.
Maureen dedicated over 21 years of her career to Anson Community Hospital as the Director of the Emergency Room. Additionally, she served as the medical examiner for Anson County and was a nurse liaison for EMS in Wadesboro for many years. After her retirement, she embraced her passion for travel, exploring various destinations around the world with her husband. Her favorite adventures included trips to tropical beaches. Maureen also found joy in gardening, dancing, and listening to music across all genres.
Recognized for her compassionate and empathetic nature, Maureen created meaningful connections with everyone she met, which contributed to her success and impact as a nurse.
In addition to her father, Maureen was also preceded in death by a nephew, Justin Parker.
She is survived by her husband, Kenn Budlong of the home; her daughter, Ashley Huntley; her grandson, Landon Holliday; mother, Georgina Huntley all of Chesterfield, SC and siblings Johnny Huntley, Larry Huntley, and Brian (Joy) Huntley, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Maureen's memory may consider making donations to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) or the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
