Alice S. (Way) Budlong, 91, of Brothertown Rd. passed away August 12, 2023 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Utica.
She was born January 10, 1932 in West Eaton, NY, a daughter of Clarence and EtheLyn Clark Way and attended Madison Central School. On February 4, 1950, she married Charles Budlong at St. Bernard’s Church in Waterville. They enjoyed a blessed union of 60 years until his passing on February 21, 2010. They had three wonderful daughters. Alice was a housewife and homemaker. For several years, she took care of pre-adoption babies. In later years, she worked for Alcott Greenhouses. She enjoyed gardening and camping, but most of all, spending time with her family. She was a great fan of the NY Yankees, the NY Rangers and Syracuse Basketball.
She is survived by her daughters, Judith (Gary) Kingsbury of Waterville; Jean M. Budlong of Utica; two grandchildren, Charles Kingsbury and Melissa Kingsbury, both of Waterville; a great-granddaughter, Leeanne Ray; 2 special nieces, Kim Cook and Betty Ann Zyla; a nephew, Donald Budlong; and a close friend Hoyt Kelly. She also leaves a very special friend, Carol Cook Carman who has been her friend since the first day they started school together. She was predeceased by three brothers, Harold Way, Bill Way and Everett Way: two sisters, Gertrude Way and Hilda Ford; a daughter Darla O’Brien and a son-in-law, Patrick O’Brien.
At her request, there will be no calling hours. Cremation will take place in Waterville.
Please, no tears. Just celebrate knowing I’m with your Dad again and “Toad” and Pat.
