James Edward Moore, 66, of Smyrna, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at SUNY Upstate Medical University.

Born June 30, 1959 in New Berlin, he was the son of the late Claude E. and Dawn (Miller) Moore.

James attended The Sure Foundation Theological Institute in Seminole, FL., where he eanred his master's degree and was working on his PhD. His faith was a guiding force in his life.

On April 11, 1980, James married the love of his life, Heidi A. Jaquay, in New Berlin. Together they built a life grounded in devotion, perseverance, and love.

Throughout his life, James worked various factory jobs and dedicated 27 years to Baillie Lumber Co. He also owned and operated a handyman business, serving many in his community with skill and integrity. He was the former Pastor of the Pharsalia Bible Church and currently with the Beaver Meadow Christian Church.

James had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, camping, motorcycle riding, and motorcross racing. Above all, he cherished his family and his faith.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Heidi; his daughter, Shanon L. Kemp (Jameson Maroney); of McDonough his grandchildren, Emma Hutchings (Robert Stone IV) of Plymouth; his great-grandchildren, Athena Rose Hutchings of Smyrna and Robert Dana Stone V of Plymouth; his sisters, Carole Weeden of Sidney and Sharon (Peter) Warburton of McDonough; sister-in-law; Deborah Lint, of Normalville, PA., brothers-in-law; Carlton (Alexis) Jaquay, of North Norwich, Glenn (Karen) Jaquay, of Cassville, Michael Wassel, Jr. (Kristen), of Macungie, PA., Leslie White, of Smyrna,

several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, James E. Moore, as well as twin infant sons, Sylvanis Moore and John Moore, granddaughter, Catherine M. "Katie" Hutchings; mother-in-law, Barbara (Michael) Wassel, father-in-law, Franklin (Ruth) Jaquay, and his sister-in-law, Celia White.

Services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, NY 13460.
