Maureen McJilton Obituary

Maureen K. McJilton

Maureen K. McJilton, 76, of Temperance, Michigan, passed away on May 24, 2025 at Ebeid Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Maureen was born on January 31, 1949 in Toledo, Ohio to Harold and Katherine (Kruse) McJilton. She graduated from Start High School and earned a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Toledo.

Known for her sharp wit and incredible sense of humor, Maureen let you know exactly what she was thinking with a single look. She was fiercely independent, yet invested in the lives of her loved ones. She was kind and welcoming, teaching us all that you can build family as well as be born into one.

For many years, Maureen worked in healthcare administration for various plastic and reconstructive surgeons. She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Maureen was a devoted University of Michigan fan, a baker of delicious pumpkin pies, a traveler, a reader, and a friend to dogs. She had a special love for young children.

Maureen was deeply loved by her family, who she supported, celebrated and loved. Affectionately called "The 7th Sares," her memory will be eternally cherished by George (Margie) Sares, Dean (Lynn) Sares, Steven (Susan) Sares, Joanne (Michael) Zink, as well as all their children and grandchildren.

She is also survived by her cousins Lucy, Gretchen, Mark (Christelle) Rogge, Linda Haynes and Susan Lanker. Maureen had wonderful moments with her cousins at Round Lake. She will also be missed by her good friends Jan Johnson and Lou (Randy) Hotton. Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, half-brother Gordon; cousin, William Rogge.

Visitation will be held on May 28, 4-8 p.m. at Reeb Funeral Home, 5217 Main St., Sylvania, Ohio, 43560, with the Trisagion service at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held on May 29 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 740 North Superior St., Toledo, Ohio 43604, with Father Larry Legakis officiating. Interment will be at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, Ohio.

The family requests that contributions be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral Toledo Memorial Fund.
