Maureen Joy Winters, 76, of Columbus, passed away peacefully Tuesday November 25, 2025.
Maureen was born February 20, 1949 in Columbus, Ohio to Paul and Margaret (Lepps) Murphy.
Maureen lived a life marked by love, deep faith, compassion, and resilience. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, warmth, strength, and fierce love of cats. Her generous spirit and hospitality touched many hearts through her delicious meals and baked goods, especially her famous buckeyes.
Maureen graduated from Bishop Watterson High School in 1967. Her work spanned many roles, always dedicated to serving others, most notably as a Secretary for the Westerville City Schools. Maureen's primary job that she loved most was caring for and visiting her family, children, and grandchildren.
Maureen will be deeply missed by her beloved husband, Kevin, of 53 years, and her children, Alison (Nicholas) Scolaro, Colleen (Thomas) O'Linn, and Sean (Jennifer) Winters. Maureen had nine grandchildren she cherished including Samuel, Paul, Henry, and George Scolaro; Tommy, Clara, and Ella O'Linn; and Riley and Sadie Winters. Maureen will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters Patricia Baron and Janet Bridgman, and her brother, James Murphy.
Visitation to celebrate Maureen's life will be held Sunday November 30th from 1:00 - 5:00p.m. at Newcomer NW Chapel, 10051 Brewster Lane, Powell, Ohio 43065. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Josephine Bakhita Parish, 6077 Sharon Woods Blvd., Columbus, Ohio 43229 on Monday December 1 at 10am with Pastor Fr. Anthony J. Davis officiating. Private internment service will be held at a later date.
Maureen's family wants to thank the staff at The Landings of Westerville for their unending dedication, compassion, dignity, and kindness in caring for her so lovingly. Memorial contributions can be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
