Maurice John Brashaw

Maurice (Maurie) J Brashaw passed away on March 27,2026. Born and raised in Iowa , he met

the love of his life, Bette in elementary school. Their first dates were an annual military ball at

Loras Academy. He went on to attend Loras College and served 2 years in the army,

Following the service he married, moved to IL and worked for Ametek,Inc for 30 years in

finance. He ran his own business for nearly another 30 years and retired at the age of 80.

Maurie loved his family, socializing with everyone, playing cards and golf.

Maurie and family moved to the Philadelphia area before settling in sunny Arizona, Married for

67 years he is survived my his wife Bette, his children Jill Nagel (Gene), Amy Merkel (Gary) and

Tim, grandchildren Chris Merkel, Jackie Canakis (Justin) Lindsey and Shannon Nagel, and one

great grandchild Olivia Canakis, brother John Brashaw (Sara) and many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by brothers, Carl, Paul, Jude and sister Jeanne Dalesandro (Jim), A

memorial mass will be held Wednesday, April 1 10:30 am, Rosary service at 10 am in Prince of

Peace Catholic Church, 14818 W Deer Valley Drive, Sun City West AZ 85375, In lieu of flowers,

donations can be made to the Society of St Vincent de Paul Phoenix www.stvincentdepaul.net.
