Maurice "Mo" Cloy, born on May 12, 1950, in Brookhaven, Mississippi, to Ray Jeff Cloy and Mary Louise Cloy, peacefully departed from this world on May 4, 2024, at his residence.
Mo's life was a vibrant symphony of laughter, music, and love for all creatures great and small. He was a man of many passions and talents, known for his witty humor, generous spirit, and unwavering love for his family, friends, and furry companions.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Lynne, and stepson, Nicholas Maxwell. Mo's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his brothers: Richard Cloy and wife Cindy, Tom Cloy and wife Jeane, and sisters: Annette Williams, Theresa Hinkle and husband Dennis, Wanda Hodges, Julie Quinlan and husband Gary Knight, Rita Dickinson and brother-in-law Bob Barham. He was a loving grandfather to Ashley Dickinson-Cloy, Kurt Patrick McEuen, and 2 great-grandchildren. Mo cherished numerous "favorite" nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Ellen Barham and son Patrick "Dallas" Cloy.
Mo's life was enriched by his deep love for music. He was a published songwriter whose melodies touched the souls of many. As a bar owner and frequent patron, Mo found joy in the camaraderie of friends, laughter, and good-natured banter. His passion for barbecue led him to become a successful restaurant owner, delighting patrons with his culinary creations.
He found peace in the tranquility of fishing and reveled in the melodies of Jimmy Buffett and Willie Nelson, his musical muse. Mo's commitment to community was evident through his lifetime memberships in the Corsicana VFW 3366 and the American Legion Post 22, where he found fellowship and shared experiences with fellow veterans.
Mo's life was a testament to living each moment to the fullest, embracing laughter, love, and the simple joys of life. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor and remember the joyous spirit of Maurice "Mo" Cloy.
May his soul find eternal peace, and may his laughter continue to echo through the hearts of those who loved him dearly.
