Maurice H. Fulbright of Gallatin, TN passed away December 10, 2023. He was born July 24, 1949 to Howard P. and Nell Patterson Fulbright in Henderson, KY. The family moved to Gallatin with A&P Grocery when he was age 10. He graduated Castle Heights Military Academy in Lebanon. ‘Fulbright’ was married for 47 years to Darlene ‘Bug’ (nee Jackson) and raised 3 children, Abby, Betsy and Casey. Since 1975, He had been a long-standing member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 572 in Nashville. Maurice was known as ‘E.T.’ by work buddies and the moniker still adorns many items around the house. He enjoyed staying connected with fellow retirees, attending retiree dinners, and continued to assist with the Local’s elections. He was a member of First Baptist Church Gallatin on Main Street. Active in driving vans for VBS and chaperoning youth group trips, he was hugely supportive of his children’s involvement in various ministries. A natural tinkerer, it was common to find him piddling in his garage. Since his teenage years, Fulbright’s enthusiasm for classic cars and motorcycles led to many road trips, including realizing a lifelong dream to ride cross-country via motorcycle. In more recent years, Fulbright found a love for Black Russian Terriers. He and Bug raised, trained and showed these dogs. The BRT’s took them to dog shows near and far and yielded many friendships that he cherished. He would talk long and often about his dogs and the breed to anyone that would listen. Maurice is survived by wife Darlene ‘Bug’ Fulbright of Gallatin; children Abigail ‘Abby’ (Joe) White and Betsy M. Fulbright both of Chattanooga, TN, and James Casey (Laura) Fulbright of Gallatin; grandsons Casen and Soren Fulbright of Gallatin. He is further survived by nephew, Eric Coons, as well as extended family in KY and NC. Visitation will be held January 6, 2024 from 12-3pm at Alexander Funeral Home in Gallatin immediately followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church Gallatin: Youth Fund, P.O. Box 369, Gallatin, TN 37066.
