Maurice E. Hoffmire, 92, of Brownstown, passed peacefully at 4:28 p.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Brownstown with Pastor Wes Hoffmire officiating. Burial will be in South Hill Cemetery, Vandalia. Visitation will be for one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be made to Gideons International, Vandalia Camp, P.O. Box #254, Brownstown, IL 62418.
Maurice Earl Hoffmire was born on May 26, 1932, rural Brownstown, IL to Lloyd and Florence W. (Cripe) Hoffmire. He married Mary Ann Collier on April 1, 1956 and she passed away on November 29, 1964. He later married Judy I. Ledbetter on September 30, 1967, whom he enjoyed over 56 years of marriage with prior to her passing on February 14, 2024. He worked for 41 years at South Central-FS. He was affiliated with the United Methodist Church and was a member of the Gideons.
He is survived by: his daughters, Wilma (Michael) Abendroth, St. Louis, MO and Michelle Hoffmire of Brownstown; grandson, Ryan (Colleen) Abendroth of St. Louis, MO; granddaughter, Sarah Abendroth of Creve Coeur, MO; great granddaughters, Gwen and Eva Abendroth of St. Louis, MO; brother, Carl (Key Doll) Hoffmire of Morton and beloved canine companion, Buddy.
Maurice was preceded in death by: his parents and brother, John Hoffmire.
