Maurice Lamont Melvin

Maurice Lamont Melvin was born on December 27, 1973 to the union of Alex and Laverne Melvin in Newark, New Jersey.
Maurice received his formal education in the Newark public schools. Maurice was employed at Pool Tables Plus and the Regional Center in Green Brook, NJ as a Human Service employee through DDD. At the age of eleven, he developed a lifelong love of music and collecting antique items. In 1998, the couple (Pam Cureton and Maurice Melvin) welcomed their first child, Alisha Cureton. On June 26, 2015, Maurice married Olga Hallock, and they later separated. To this union was born his second daughter and her first child, Rebecca Melvin, along with their only son, Maurice Melvin Jr.
Maurice Melvin departed this life on Saturday, July 8, 2023. he was preceded in death by his mother, Laverne Melvin.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Olga Melvin of Orange, NJ; his children, Alisha Cureton, Rebecca Melvin and Maurice Melvin Jr.; his granddaughter, Emily Cureton; his siblings, Alex Melvin Jr., Rasheed Ali, Prahome Melvin, Lorenzo Melvin, Rhonda Goff, Alsha Melvin (his caregiver), Rayann Melvin and Lukeeisha Melvin; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
