Maurice E. Schrougham, affectionately known as Mort, was born on April 20, 1943, in Whiteland, Indiana, Mort was a spirited soul who brought joy and wisdom to all who knew him. His unexpected passing on October 13, 2025, in Greenwood, Indiana, has left a void for many.
Mort was a devoted husband to his wife of 60 years, Emma Jean, a loving father to his son Dennis and his wife Deborah, and a grandfather to Nick, Barry, Kayla, and Austin. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Kayden, Cameron, and Colson. Mort was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Margaret Schrougham, his sons, Michael St. Arbor and Ronnie Schrougham, and his grandson, Mitchell St. Arbor.
A skilled metal technician by trade, Mort's craftsmanship and attention to detail were unparalleled. Beyond his professional life, Mort was a hot rod enthusiast. His eyes would light up at the sight of a classic car, and he could often be found tinkering in his garage, restoring old vehicles to their former glory.
Mort was the epitome of a spirited individual, always approaching life with vigor and enthusiasm. His handy nature meant that he was the go-to person for fixing anything, and his wisdom was sought after by friends and family alike. Mort's presence was a source of stability and guidance, and his absence will be deeply felt.

Jean, I am so to hear of Morts passing. It's hard to believe that someone I knew all my life as a neighbor on Wiley and classmate to my sister is no longer. I have many great memories of his family. Warm thoughts. Katie
