Michael "Mike" Warren Schrougham, a devoted father and loving husband, passed away at IU Health Bloomington Hospital on Wednesday, November 27th, 2024. He was 63.
Born in Columbus, Indiana on July 16th, 1961 to the late James Warren Schrougham and Geneva Irene Schrougham (Moore), Mike was the eldest of three siblings. He grew up in Hope, Indiana and graduated from Hauser High School in 1979. In September of 1979 he married his high school sweetheart Margaret "Peggy" Schrougham (Syphers), and they remained best friends and husband and wife for 45 years.
Mike was a carpenter for 35 years, specializing in cabinetry and making custom designs. He also loved beagles, and for decades was a competitor and judge for the American Kennel Club. Many people may not know that Mike was an expert on many topics and had near encyclopedic knowledge of the world around him. He loved watching documentaries and reading the newspaper from front to back. He knew random facts about everything from history and music to medicine and animals, and his thumb was as green as the cucumbers that grew in his garden. In the last two decades of his life he developed a love of golf, and it was not out of the ordinary for him to play 18 or 27 holes multiple times a week. Mike had a quiet and calming demeanor, and was known by loved ones as being resourceful, dependable, and generous.
Mike is survived by his wife Peggy, his children Auston and Jacy, and his brothers Stephen (Virginia) and Kevin. With respect to Mike's wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation, however there will be a golf scramble memorial in his honor at a yet to be determined time in the spring. The Schrougham family would like to express their sincere thanks to the IU Health Bloomington Hospital critical care team, the Indiana Donor Network, and the IU Health Hospice for their excellent care.
Online condolences may be made to the family at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home, 105 North Montgomery Street, Spencer, Indiana 47460 or online at www.westparrishpedigo.com.
