Paul E. Rutan Sr., 77, of Columbus, passed from this life at 5:36 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at the Belmont Health & Rehabilitation in Columbus.
Mr. Rutan was born October 24, 1946, in Columbus, the son of Lawrence P. and Alice Irene Glick Rutan.
He married Kelly S. Shepherd December 19, 2020.
Paul graduated from Hauser High School in 1964 and was self-employed for over 30 years in the floor covering business. He enjoyed collecting classic cars, car shows and watching western movies.
Survivors include his wife; children, Laura (Jeff) Bennett of Crown Point and Paul E. (Suzie) Rutan II of Greensburg; grandchildren, Christian (Kristie) Rutan Woods, Morgan (Harrison) Stewart, Collin Bennett, Alex (Trevor) Mazzola and Trevor Rutan; great-grandchildren, Rhylan and Emmie Lou Mazzola; sister, Sharon K. (Mike) Hankins of Columbus and a brother, Floyd K. (Cindy) Rutan of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Phyllis Powell.
The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday March 4, 2024, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Mike Hankins officiating.
Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 10:00 a.m. to time of service.
He will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Paul's name to Hauser High School Library, 9273 N. State Road 9, Hope, IN 47246.
