Mavis Goldie Crane, 96, of Abilene Texas, passed away Tuesday July 23, 2024. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM at Baker Heights Church Of Christ located at 5382 Texas Ave. Abilene, TX with Charles Goodnight officiating with burial following at Elmwood Memorial Park located at 5750 US 277 in Abilene, TX.
Mavis was born June 27, 1928 in Gouldbusk, TX to David and Dovie Wright. Mavis married J.D. Crane on May 18, 1946 and they had three daughters the late Rose Ann Gilbert of Freeport, TX; Joy Jarrett of Abilene, TX; and Anita Daughtry of Lubbock, TX. Mavis received her GED in 1968 then she attended Hendrick School of Nursing and got her LVN license in 1969. She was a nurse at Hendricks Hospital over 20 years. Her hobbies included quilting and crocheting. Everyone loved her fruitcake at Christmas. She was a member of Baker Heights Church of Christ.
Mavis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband J.D. Crane, her daughter Rose Ann Gilbert, 5 brothers, and 3 sisters. She was the only living of the siblings.
Left to cherish her memories are her two daughters, and 8 grandchildren; Jeannie Bruce, David Gilbert, Stephani Conner, Lisa Jarrett, Adam Jarrett, Robin Daughtry, Krista Vizuete, amd Jennifer Daughtry.
We are grateful she was granted many beautiful years. We love and miss you very much.
