Max Haldeman

Max William Haldeman, age 31 passed away on August 8th. He was born October 9, 1993 to Dan and Ruth Haldeman. He grew up in Bend, Oregon where the forest down the street was his and his brother, Nate's playground.

Max attended Westside Village Magnet School K-8 and graduated from Bend High School. He was an enrolled member of the Gros Ventre Tribe from Montana. He was very proud of his Native American heritage.

Max's passion and talent for culinary arts lead him to his profession as a chef. He moved to Portland in 2019 to enhance his culinary career. He loved going to many restaurants, but his favorite cuisine was Thai.

He loved his dogs Obi and Boomer as well as music. He played various instruments such as bass guitar and banjo. He attended many concerts from punk to bluegrass and cultivated an extensive, eclectic vinyl record collection.

Max is survived by his loving life partner, Maddie Rattler, his parents Dan and Ruth, brother Nate, grandmother Maxine Lamebull, uncles Steve (Dea) Lamebull, Bob (Caren) Haldeman, Dave Peters, John Forstrom, aunts Carol (Bob) Kerby, Debbie Selam, Lorna Vivette, many cousins, the Rattler family that welcomed him into their family, and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Homer and Claramae Haldeman, grandfather Andrew Lamebull Jr., uncles Lindsey Selam, Chuck Vivette, aunts Betty Haldeman and Marlene Peters.

A Life Celebration will be held on Sunday, August 31st at 1:00 pm at Polaris Hall, 635 N. Killingsworth Court, Portland, OR 97217.
