Princeton - Max Lauritzen of Princeton, IL. passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, November 19, 2025, at Allure of Walnut.
Born on August 9, 1939, in Walnut, IL, Max was the son of the late Charles and Mildred (Alshouse) Lauritzen. He was a proud graduate of Walnut High School, Class of 1957, and later continued his education, earning his bachelor's degree.
Max married the love of his life, Carol Schloemer, on May 11, 1963, in Davenport, IA. After they married, they started their family and later moved to Princeton, IL.
He served his country in the United States Army, and following his honorable discharge, began his career with the Burlington Northern Railroad. Over the years, he also worked at Princeton High School and eventually owned and operated Max's Tax Service in Princeton, a business he ran with care and dedication until retirement.
Max enjoyed watching baseball and just about any sport that happened to be on. He spent many years umpiring for youth baseball and was a huge part of the District 20 youth baseball administration for many years. Later in life, he discovered a surprising talent for floral design, winning several blue ribbons at the Bureau County Fair. He also loved playing bingo-especially when he was winning, which was quite often-and cherished every opportunity to spend time with his family, particularly his grandchildren.
He is survived by four children: David (Dianna) Lauritzen of Baltimore, MD; Kathy (Steve) Snow of Princeton, IL; Angela (David) Bohm of Belle Fourche, SD; and Kenny (Anne) Lauritzen of Walnut, IL. three grandchildren: Brandon (Jennifer Linley) Lauritzen of Walnut, IL; Ashley (Eric) Bickett of Princeton, IL; and Dalton Bohm of Belle Fourche, SD; as well as one great-grandchild, Brantley Bickett of Princeton, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol Lauritzen who passed on July 7, 2024; his son, Troy Lauritzen; and his brothers, Richard Lauritzen and Edward Lauritzen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to District 20 Baseball.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments.
Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m., with Pastor Michael Hickok officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded.
