Max LeRoy Olds, 82, passed away peacefully at Ohio Hospice of Miami County on May 9, 2025. He was born in Troy, Ohio, on September 7, 1942, to Anna Kathryn (Wesco) Garrett of Troy, Ohio and Richard Carlton Olds, of Tipp City, Ohio.
After graduating Morton High School, Chicago IL., he joined the US Navy from 1961 to 1966 where he proudly served on the USS Essex and participated in the Cuban Crisis.
After leaving the Navy, he worked at BFGoodrich, Troy, Ohio and in later years opened his own business, Max's Auto Sales and Muffler Shop in Piqua, Ohio until retirement. His love was for cars and motorcycles, and he thoroughly loved riding his Harley Davidsons.
Max will be deeply missed by his family. He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Barber) Olds who shared over 50 years together. Children include, Melissa Olds, Cleveland, Ohio; Tiffany (Olds) Terry, Jackson Center, Ohio; David (Karin) Seipel, Piqua, Ohio; Debra Seipel, Piqua, Ohio; and he raised his granddaughter, Alexandra (Bradley) Lewis of Piqua.
Grandchildren loved are Nichole (Jim) Aills, Mechanicsburg, Ohio; Abagale (Jason) Geise, Sidney, Ohio; Blake (Crissy) Nickel, Piqua, Ohio; Jordan Gilmore, Piqua, Ohio; Tyler Grooms, Jackson Center, Ohio; Sarah Terry, Jackson Center, Ohio; Brandon Olds, Piqua, Ohio; Nicolas Matthieu, Piqua, Ohio and Andrew Stewart, Denver, Colorado.
12 Great-grandchildren, Kyler Aills, Kane Aills, Ava Krommanecker, Giuliana Krommanecker, Adrielle Gilmore, Daxton Gilmore, Ronan Candido Nickel, Kali Grooms, Karli Grooms, Gracie Grooms, Leo James Olds, Brody Lewis. Also included are lifetime friends Loretta, Matt and Andy Golden of Sidney, Ohio, Cousin, Boonie Wesco of Troy, Ohio, and his loving dog, Spunky. Max was preceded in death by lifetime friend Denver Golden.
At the request of Max there will be a Celebration of Life for family and friends at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Melcher Sowers Funeral Home.
