Max Stavely Obituary
away on November 27, 2024, at the age of 94. He was the son of Elgie Dee Stavely and Edna
Stewart Stavely and grew up in Medina, Tennessee, where he attended Medina High School.
Max dedicated over 30 years to a career at Texas Instruments, where he last served as a
general foreman. Afterward, he transitioned to independent contracting, specializing in
remodeling and construction in East Texas. His expertise also took him overseas, where he
spent two years as a technical consultant in the Philippines.
A devout Christian, Max was a cherished member of Purley Baptist Church, serving God in
numerous roles throughout the years. He had a deep love for animals, especially horses,
Schnauzer pups, and wide-mouth bass, and he continued to fish from his boat well into his 80s.
Max shared nearly 40 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Bonnie Jean Stavely, his
soulmate and constant companion. Their love and devotion to each other were evident to all
who knew them.
Max is survived by his sister Martha Lynn Biggs; his daughters Trish Davis (LARRY), Sue
Winfield, and Brenda Backman (MICKEY GINN); his son John Backman; 10 grandchildren; and
numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who adored him. He was preceded in
death by his wife, Bonnie Jean Boyett Stavely; his son Derek Stavely; and his siblings John
Stavely, Lasca Dennison, Rachel Lewis, and Ronnie Stavely.
Max's life was full of humor and stories. One favorite tale involved a work trip to New York.
Unfamiliar with the concept of an expense account, Max bought lunch meat, bread, and milk,
keeping them cold on the hotel window ledge at night-a creative yet comical approach to city
living.

Church, where Max's faith and legacy will continue to inspire others.
Max will be deeply missed, but his faith, humor, and love for family and community leave a
lasting impact on all who knew him.
