With heartfelt sadness, we announce the passing of James O. Stavely (Jim), who departed this life on July 7, 2025, at the age of 70. He was a beloved brother, devoted father, proud grandfather, cherished uncle, and loyal friend.
Jim graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1972 and served his country with honor in the United States Army from 1972 to 1976. Following his military service, he worked for over 20 years as a skilled pipefitter and welder. Jim was a dedicated member of Santa Fe Christian Church, where his faith and fellowship were an important part of his life.
He is survived by his sister, Pam Stavely, and his children: Jodie St.Cin, Jessica Mettlen, Michael Burras, and William Burras. Jim was a proud grandfather to: James Ginn III, Jimmie St.Cin, William D. Burras, Riley Burras, Ava Burras, Landon Burras, Jacob Mettlen, Justin Mettlen, and Jeremy Mettlen. He is also remembered with love by his nieces: Stacie Holt, Loree Holt, and Christi Jones. And his nephews: Jeff Jones, Randal Holt, Clayton Holt, and Caleb Jones. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John and Zetta Stavely, and his loving wife, Gloria Stavely.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Jim's life will be held on: Monday, July 28, 2025 @ 2pm-4pm, at the Santa Fe Christian Church.
Jim will be remembered for his quiet strength, kind heart, strong work ethic, and unwavering devotion to his family. He was a good brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend - and his legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
