Max Dual Sweetin, age 94, of Ti Valley, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, July 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 4, and Tuesday, August 5, at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory.
Funeral services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Ti Valley Baptist Church, with Dr. Jim Davidson officiating. Burial will follow at Ti Valley Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Marvin Sweetin, Kenny Sweetin, Hunter Sweetin, Kevin Rice, Michael Martin, and Samuel Martin.
Honorary pallbearers include Dusty Vickrey, Larry James, Rusty Porter, Danny LaCoss, Michael Cox, and Ron Martin.
Max was born on April 3, 1931, in Hog Eye Hollar, Ti Valley, to Edgar Britt and Minnie Irene (McCormack) Sweetin. He attended grade school in Ti Valley and graduated from Haileyville High School, Class of 1950.
He married Peggy Jane Boulware on November 6, 1955, in Grand Prairie, Texas.
Max worked for Hudson Oil in Dallas and later for Koch Industries in Wichita, Kansas, where he held various roles and ultimately retired as Vice President of Marketing in 1980. After retirement, he returned to Ti Valley and spent several years cattle ranching.
He was a lifelong believer and attended Ti Valley Baptist Church in his youth. In later years, he was a member of Hartshorne First Baptist Church.
Max loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
He was preceded in death by sons, Timothy Sweetin, Brent Sweetin; parents, Edgar Britt and Minnie Irene Sweetin; and brothers, Jiggs Sweetin and Knox Sweetin.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Peggy Sweetin of Ti Valley; daughter, Vickie Wills and husband Okie of Plano, Texas; granddaughters, Waunette Irene Sweetin, Kerrie Lively and husband, Kerry; grandson, Jerimy Wills and wife, Michelle; Ten great grandchildren; sisters, Yvonne McDonald and husband Leonard, and Elaine Sampson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and a host of friends.
