Charlotta "Joyce" (Sartor) Sexton, 91 of Kiowa passed away Saturday, October 4, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
The family will greet friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 10, 2025 at Kiowa First Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Danny Drake. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be, Easton Daniel, Stephen Nichols, Kevin Newberry, Rainy Sartor, Shane Sartor and Roger Sartor.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck Patton, Don McClendon, Joe Clifton, Gregg Murphy, Mike Yoast, Mike Doyle, Bradley Hamilton, Dalton Turney, Larry Don Roberts, Garrett Rose, Pake McEntire, Jimmy Echelle, Jim Bob Winslett, Rocky Carter, Dustin Shields, Coy Trammell, Kenny Maxwell, Mike Haynes, fellow members of Kiowa First Baptist Church and members of Kiowa Senior Citizens Center.
Joyce was born on May 9, 1934 to William "Bill" Perry and Mabell Idell (Wright) Sartor in Denison, Texas. She attended schools in Denison, Texas and later in Ashland where she graduated in 1951.
She married Gerald "Wayne" Sexton on August 25, 1951 in Fort Smith, Arkansas and they celebrated 73 years of marriage prior to his death on April 9, 2024.
Upon graduated she worked various clerical jobs in department stores, dentist office and was a substitute teacher at Limestone Gap School until going to work for the Federal Government, U.S. Army, Ft. Sill, Oklahoma and later to McAlester Naval Ammunition Depot that later became McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, where she retired in June of 1995 with 36 years and 11 months of service. While there she received several sustained superior performance and commendation awards in disbursing, travel, DITY moves and payroll.
Joyce and Wayne owned and operated Sexton Ranch in the Kiowa and Wardville area.
Joyce was a longtime, devoted member of the Kiowa First Baptist Church.
Joyce loved bowling in her spare time and going on cruises. She loved her family and enjoyed visiting with them all.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Idell Sartor, husband, Wayne Sexton, Son, Rodney Dee Sexton; grandson, Bryan Charles Clonch; brother, Lee Edward Sartor; sisters-in-law, Vonnie Newberry, Jeanine Sartor, Helen McClendon; brothers-in-law, Jerry Newberry, Oliver Baldwin, Dale Davis, W. C. Derryberry and Leon McClendon.
Joyce is survived by sons, Michael Sexton and wife, Deanna of Kiowa, Gregory Sexton and Angie of Ashland; daughter, Vicki Clonch and husband, Melton of Ada; grandchildren, Clifford Sexton and companion, Jessica, Marci Stephens and husband, Chance, Bradley Clonch and wife, Michelle, Brandon Clonch, Brittiany Cornish and husband, Chris; great grandchildren, Weston Sexton, Isabella Sexton, Jaxson Stephens, Kyler Stephens, Willow Stephens, Lanie Clonch, Kamryn Cornish, Everly Clonch, Elliot Clonch, Ethan Cornish, Jaxley Cornish; sisters, Naomi Davis, Willie Dell Derryberry, Dora Kay Nichols and husband, Sherman, Ronna Gail Baldwin; brothers, R. W. Sartor, Wallace Sartor and wife, Betty, Charles Wayne Sartor and wife, Maclyn, Dorman "Dub" Sartor and wife, Sharon; sister-in-law, Barbara Sartor; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Tara, Bree, and Hailey, and all the nurses and staff of A Path to Care Hospice, for the love, care, and compassion they showed our mamma. We would also like to thank Deanna Sexton and Marci Stephens, who stayed with our mamma around the clock, providing the care and comfort she needed in her final days.
