David "Mike" Wade, 69, of Waxahachie, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4th. Born on August 28, 1956, in Sherman, Texas, to Jack and Karen Wade, Mike lived a life marked by faith, service, and deep love for others.
A 1974 graduate of Denison High School, Mike proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for three years. After being honorably discharged, he attended Tyler Junior College and began his lifelong career with Texas Power and Light, now known as Oncor Electric, where he dedicated 43 years of service.
While in Tyler, Mike met the love of his life, Patricia "Pat" Burns. The two married and shared 43 years together, raising their family in Lancaster, Texas.
Mike was a devoted husband, father, and "Papa" who poured his heart into both his family and his faith. He was an active member of First Baptist Church Lancaster for over 15 years, where he joyfully served with the Royal Ambassadors and various youth ministries. His commitment to guiding young people spanned 34 years.
His faith also led him to serve with the Texas Baptist Men beginning in the early 1990s. Over the years, he took part in countless ministries and mission efforts, serving on every committee-including the executive board. Mike also dedicated many years to youth prison ministry, sharing hope and compassion wherever he went.
Mike is survived by his wife, Pat Wade of Waxahachie; sister Diane and Gregg Frazier of Colorado; children Brittinie and Sam Hall of Waxahachie, Travis and Jessica Wade of Waxahachie, and Chelsea Wade of Waxahachie; and his five precious grandchildren, Bryer (12), Kylie (11), Jaxon (11), Liam (9), and Annsley (6). He also leaves behind his godson Antwan and Shanna Floyd of Houston, Texas, as well as many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025 from 10:00–11:00 a.m., followed immediately by the funeral service at 11:00am at First Baptist Church of Lancaster, under the direction of Byrum Funeral Home, Lancaster, Texas. There will be no graveside service following, as Mike will be laid to rest in Canton, Texas, at the family plot.
Mike's life was a reflection of quiet strength, humble service, and steadfast faith. His legacy will continue to shine through the lives he touched.
