Max Alvin Wilfong, passed away on November 23, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on July 30, 1929, in Orleans, Indiana, Max was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, whose service in the Korean War shaped much of his character and values throughout his life.
For many years, Max dedicated himself to his career at Duke Energy, where he worked tirelessly until his retirement. His strong work ethic and commitment to excellence made him a respected figure in his field, but it was his dedication to family that truly defined him. Max was a man whose proudest accomplishments were rooted in the love he had for his family.
Max was passionate about his hobbies, particularly his love for guns, which led him to create a gun shop in his home. Whether he was out shooting clay pigeons, deer hunting, or enjoying the serenity of fishing, Max found joy in these pursuits, often sharing them with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Cindy Wilfong and Rose (Matthew) Dulaney, who were a source of pride and joy for him. His grandchildren, Justin (Samantha) Dulaney and Jamie Love, as well as his great-grandchildren, Destiny Love and Samantha Sowders, will carry forward spirit, forever cherishing the memories they created together.
Max was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Elsie Gertrude Wilfong, whose companionship brought him endless happiness; his parents, Roscoe and Lucy Dillard Wilfong; and his sister, Majel Turpin.
