Max Edwin Zimmerman, Jr., 80, of Columbia City, passed away at Parkview Regional Medical Center on March 19, 2025.
He was born on July 6, 1944, at Jay County Hospital to the late Max and Angeline (Bird) Zimmerman, Sr. He spent his formative years in Jay County and graduated from Governor I.P. Gray High School in 1962. He then graduated from International Business College in 1964.
He met his soon-to-be bride, Linda Holdeman, at International Business College. The couple married in Winchester on August 14, 1964.
Max spent his professional life in customer service, working for the Container Corp. of America from 1964 until his retirement in 2007. Following his retirement, Max was the customer service manager and graphic artist for Jigsaw Creations. He had a passion for woodworking that he cultivated in his spare time, but what truly mattered most to Max was his faith in Jesus and his family. Max was proud to always wear his faith on his shirts and in his life.
Max is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda Zimmerman; his daughters, Jennifer (Carl) Dietz and Lory (Greg) Norden; his brothers, Phillip James (Carol) Zimmerman and Ronald (Lou Ann) Zimmerman; his sister, Donna (Erick) Riddle; six grandchildren, Danielle, Stephanie, Jessica, Kayla, Joshua, and Karsten; three great-grandchildren, Adalie, Lee, and Dean.
A Funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Sugar Grove Church of God, Churubusco, with calling one hour prior to the service
The family will also receive family and friends on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Burial will take place in the Round Lake Cemetery, Columbia City.
Memorials may be directed to Global Fellowship.
Sheets & Childs Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.

Max was my friend and work colleague at Container Corporation. I had started my first job out of the military and had a situation where I needed technical assistance. Max was a great mentor to younger employees and he assisted me by getting in touch with another colleague of his who became a great resource for my development. Today, at the showing were 6 other retired people from the same company. One person was a Vice President that drove all the way from Cleveland to pay his respects. I now miss Max and regret that I didn't come down to see him more often. It was great to see Linda after many years have gone by. My sympathy and condolences to Linda and family.
