Maximillian “Max” Anthony Meissner, Jr., 75, of Bay City, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on November 22, 2025. He was born on February 11, 1950 in Sebewaing, Michigan to the late Maximillian and Ruby (Kain) Meissner.
Max was an athlete at heart. He attended Sebewaing High School where he excelled on both the football and baseball field. Later in life he enjoyed softball, bowling, and golf. When not home, he was sure to be found on the golf course where he enjoyed spending time with his friends. He had a lifelong love of fast cars and proudly retired from General Motors.
Max proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His courage and sacrifices were recognized with two Purple Heart medals, which was a true testament to his strength, bravery, and unwavering dedication to his country.
Above all, Max was a devoted family man and could often be heard bragging about any one of his 7 grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Jo; his sons, Ryan (Melissa) and Matt (Whitney); grandchildren, Elle, Vivian, Kaleb, Maximillian, Logan, Blake, and Beau; his sisters, Maureen (Ed) Kusek and Renae (Jim) Bauer; brothers-in-law, Mick and Kevin Bourassa; sisters-in-law, Wendy (Gerald) MacKenzie, Diane Stahl, and Laurie Boddie; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him deeply. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Sharon (Ralph) Finkbeiner, Dennis Stahl, Warren (Thelma) Meissner, and sister-in-law, Jill Bourassa.
The funeral service will be held on December 3, 2025, at Corpus Christi Parish, 1000 S Wenona St, Bay City at 11am. Family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a contribution to Corpus Christi Parish, Wounded Warriors, or the American Heart Association.
