Maxine M Amedio

Maxine M. Amedio, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on July 3, 2025, at the age of 78 in Libertyville, IL. Born on December 18, 1946, in Chicago, IL, Maxine's vibrant spirit and contagious laughter brought joy to all who were fortunate to cross her path.
Maxine's early education began at St. Simon Catholic School on the South side of Chicago. At the age of 11, she moved to Round Lake and continued her studies at St. Joe's Catholic School, graduating in 1964. Maxine's commitment to her community was evident through her dedication to work. She spent over a decade as a secretary at Saint Mary of the Lake Seminary, followed by an impressive 40-year tenure as Secretary to the Principal at John T. Magee Middle School. Her early years included part-time work at Brake Parts and full-time positions at Corner Kitchen Restaurant and Hollands Midwest in Round Lake Heights, as well as at Foulds in Libertyville.
In her personal life, Maxine was the embodiment of love and care. Her siblings, George Amedio (Sherry), Keith Amedio (Diana), Sally Nicholls (Rob), Jack Amedio (Karen), and Allen Amedio (Connie),Dan Dimitroff (Brother-in-law), will remember her as a guiding light. Her daughters, Michaelene Amedio and Peggy Maglio (Mark), will forever cherish her unwavering support and the precious moments they shared. Maxine's joy was multiplied by her grandchildren, Brittany Payne and Brianna Amedio, and she treasured every opportunity to be involved in their lives.
Maxine's nieces and nephews – Joe, Jason, John, Mary, Kathy, Lisa, Caitlyn, Al, Brian, Pattie, Julie, April, Maryellen, Joey, Jimmy Jr., Amber, and Steven – will miss her playful spirit and her ability to make every family gathering memorable. She was also a loving figure to her great-nieces and -nephews, who adored her immensely.
Maxine found companionship and happiness with her longtime partner, Vincent Tascher, with whom she shared many of life's simple pleasures. Her love for scrapbooking, bowling, camping, and participating in the drill team reflected her zest for life. Maxine had a passion for her grandchildren, wine walks with the ladies, watching the news, going to the movies, and her favorite TV show NCIS. She cherished dining at Orlandos in Round Lake and the Family restaurant in Fox Lake, especially after getting her nails done with her granddaughters.
A woman of faith and tradition, Maxine played bingo with her mother and sister at St. Bede every Wednesday night, a ritual that brought her much joy. Her dream of traveling to Italy and her love for round trips spoke to her adventurous spirit.
Maxine was preceded in death by her father, George Amedio, her mother, Irene H. Amedio, and her siblings Joe Amedio, John Amedio, Maryann Stanton, and Denise Dimitroff. Her legacy will live on through the lives she touched, her loving family, and the countless memories she created with those around her.
Described by many as loving, funny, and thoughtful, Maxine's presence was a gift to the world. Her laughter was infectious, her smile could light up a room, and her kindness knew no bounds. Maxine will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her to live life with joy, compassion, and a sense of humor.
Her memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories shared by loved ones and the impact she made on her community. Maxine M. Amedio's story is one of love, laughter, and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of many.
