Emma Maxine "Mickey" Collier, a resident of Klamath Falls, OR, died November 28, 2024 at the age of 92. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church.
Mickey was born on November 24, 1932 in Sheridan, Arkansas to Grady and Geneva Pugh. Her family moved to Oregon when she was four years old and lived in various logging camps at Beatty, Bly, Chiloquin, Kesterson's Camp, and finally to Klamath Falls. She graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1951.
Mickey married Bill Collier in Klamath Falls on May 10, 1952. The couple enjoyed 61 years together, prior to his death in November 2013. She was devoted to her family and loved to cook for a myriad of celebrations with family and friends. In later years, she and Bill built a cabin near Rocky Point, where she continued her enjoyment of entertaining family and friends.
Mickey also enjoyed world travel. She and Bill had many happy excursions to Hawaii, Alaska, Panama Canal, Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines. And while here at home, she was devoted to her work at the Bill Collier Community Ice Arena at Running Y. She assisted in many duties including: renting skates, making hot chocolate, making ice at midnight, writing thank-you notes, and any other needed tasks. She and Bill also loved dressing up as Santa & Mrs. Claus at the ice rink, taking photos with the many children and skaters
Mickey was a long-time member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where she served for many years at the English Tea and the food pantry.
Survivors include her daughters Karen Collier Strickland (Stan), Gloria Collier Henneman; grandchildren Cari Strickland of Portland, OR, Matt Strickland of Portland, OR, David Henneman of Bend, OR, Mike Henneman (Whitney) of Roseburg, OR, Eric Henneman (Gail) of Medford, OR; great grandchildren Elle, Finn, Colton, Lawson, and Hudson. She is also survived by brother and sister-in-law Doug & Barb Collier; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Grady & Geneva Pugh; and siblings Kathy Marin, Jim Pugh, Martha Hull, and Linda Yerkovich.
Contributions in memory of Mickey Collier may be made to the Bill Collier Community Ice Arena, 5075 Fox Sparrow Dr., Klamath Falls, OR 97601; or to the charity of one's choice.
