Maxine McGuire Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kerr Brothers Funeral Home - Harrodsburg Road on Aug. 15, 2024.
Maxine McIntosh McGuire, 91, widow of Don McGuire, passed away peacefully August 15, 2024 at Baptist Health Lexington. Born Dec., 12, 1932 in Owensboro, KY, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Lucy Blanton McIntosh. After attending Western Kentucky University where she met her husband, she became a loving wife and mother to her three children. Her greatest joy in life was having family and friends around her kitchen table. She even cared for and loved as her own, a young man named Billy Wright, after he lost his mother. While dementia robbed her of many things later in life, especially her amazing laugh, she continued flashing her sweet smile until her final days. She is survived by her 3 loving children, Cindy (Billy) Shell, Kreis (Betty) McGuire, and Lisa (Jeff) Baumgardner; 9 grandchildren, Brad Horn, Whitney (Joey) Roberts, Emily (Justin) Glenn, Maggie Shell, Tanner (Neil) Gallacher, Parker McGuire, Spencer McGuire, Casen Baumgardner, and Katelyn (Brandon) Canfield; 7 great grandchildren, Ellis and Frankie Gallacher, Boyd and Dawson Glenn, Asher and Haden Horn, and Evelyn Baumgardner. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Abbey Tyler McGuire, a sister, Juanita Hayes, and her twin brother, Eugene McIntosh. Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. by the Rev. Hank Ellington with visitation prior to the service from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Burial will be the following day on Friday, Aug. 23, 2024 at Camp Nelson National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Casket bearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons. Honorary bearers will be Joey Roberts, Justin Glenn, Brandon Canfield, and Neil Gallacher. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Bluegrass Care Navigators, 1733 Harrodsburg Rd., Lexington, KY 40504.

My first memory of Mrs. McGuire was when opened her beautiful home on Parker´s Mill to all the freshman from Central Kentucky high schools attending Western Kentucky 1978. I fell in love with this family at that moment and her lovely demeanor and classy ways will be forever in my heart. Along with her husband and her kids. Not a finer family.
