Maxine E. Ratterman, 98 of Carlinville, passed away Saturday night, February 15, 2025, at Carlinville Area Hospital in Carlinville, IL, surrounded by her family.
Maxine was born December 22, 1926, in Bridgeport, OK, a daughter of Jim and Nellie Pearl (Kerr) Eischen. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy with the class of 1944.
She married George Ratterman on January 21, 1946, in El Reno, Ok.
Maxine was a very active member of Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church for many years, serving in the Alter Society, CRE, and Catholic Daughters of America.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George Ratterman, on January 23, 1982, son, Lonnie Ratterman, sister, Jeanne Zweiacher on October 24, 1986, and her brother, Nick Eischen on August 11, 1942.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, 9-10:30 am at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, Carlinville, IL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 am, Friday, February 21, 2025, at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, with the Reverend Steve Pohlman officiating.
Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Carlinville, IL.
Maxine is survived by her daughter, Sharon Swain of Lexington, KY, daughter, Susan (Richard) Gwillim of Carlinville, IL, daughter, Kathleen (Michael) Butler of Defuniak Springs, FL, son, Richard (Jean) Ratterman of Glen Carbon, IL, nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Her two greatest loves were her family and God.
Memorials may be made to Ss Mary and Joseph Building Fund.
