McKenzie Wilt, 21, of Oakland, passed away unexpectedly on June 15, 2024, in Hebron, ND. Born on November 13, 2002, in Oakland, she was the daughter of Brian and Trisha (Marple) Wilt.
McKenzie graduated from Southern Garrett High School where she was a Distinguished Honor Roll student and an inductee of the National Honor Society. She was a member of the Ryan's Glade 4-H Club and Southern Garrett Volleyball and Basketball teams. She attended Fairmont State University and West Virginia University, where she was studying Animal Science, and was completing an internship at a ranch in North Dakota, doing what she loved, learning genetics, nutrition, horse training, and working cattle on the ranch. McKenzie was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and was deeply committed to her faith in Jesus Christ.
She enjoyed camping, riding her horse, Hank, and spending time with her family and friends. McKenzie was looking forward to starting a family with her fiancé, Brandon Lucas, who she thought the world of. McKenzie adored children and looked forward to having six of her own. She loved her dog, Milly, and enjoyed taking her on long walks. One of the things that McKenzie loved most in her life was family. McKenzie shared a special sibling bond with Hannah and Bryson; there was never question of the love shared between the three of them. McKenzie looked up to her mom and dad as she was navigating life and always valued their love and guidance.
Left to cherish McKenzie's memory are her parents, Brian and Trisha Wilt of Oakland; two siblings, Hannah (Wilt) Tusing and husband Kristopher of Kings Island, GA and Bryson Wilt and fiancée Josilyn Evans of Oakland; maternal grandparents, Tom and Cheryl Marple; paternal grandparents, Robert and Carolyn Harsh; maternal great grandmother, Wanda Marie Friend; and multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. Kenzie was loved by many and brought smiles and laughter wherever she went.
Friends will be received on Sunday, June 23, 2024, from 4 to 8 PM, at Pleasant View Baptist Church. A funeral service will held on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 11 AM, in the church with Pastor Wally Weeks officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland, is honored to be caring for McKenzie's family at this time.
