Meghan (Johnston) Wise, 43, of Acton, died on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Meghan was the daughter of the late Bonnie (Crowley) Johnston and daughter of Michael F. and Gayle (Kurczynski) Johnston. She was the wife of Michael Wise and the mother of Michael Dean Wise, who was the greatest joy of her life.
A 2001 graduate of Acton-Boxborough Regional High School, Meghan went on to earn her associate's degree in graphic design from Northern Essex Community College. Creative and generous by nature, she loved crocheting hats, scarves, blankets, and countless other items, gifting them to friends and family.
Meghan lived life with an open heart. One of her favorite activities was attending concerts-especially any performance by Kenny Chesney-and found joy in traveling. She had a special love for Walt Disney World, and one of her favorite traveling experiences was a recent trip to Iceland with her sister-in-law, Michelle. Meghan's favorite actor was James Dean – which is how Michael got his middle name. At home Meghan enjoyed caring for her chickens and after her mother died, taking over the role of caring for the birds that gathered in her yard. She loved taking her son Michael on adventures, including overnights at the Great Wolf Lodge and afternoons playing at the Discovery Museum or the farm.
Some of Meghan's fondest memories included celebrating Christmas Eve on the Cape with her mother's family, summer lunches at the Airport Diner with her dad, dinners at the Wayside Inn, and Jeff Purchon's legendary pancakes.
Meg is also survived by her brothers, Scott Johnston and his wife Colleen of Lunenburg, and Evon Johnston and his wife Monique of Marlborough, her brother-in-law, Jon Wise and his former wife Michelle of Pennsylvania, her sister-in-law, Saranne Novaco, and her husband Matthew of Stow, and her father and mother-in-law, Aran and Carol Wise as well as her nieces and nephews, Michelle, Emma, Payge, Jake, Frank, Harry, Kyle and Gavin, great-nephews, Mark and Callum and many cousins. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Francis and Muriel (Peterson) Crowley, her paternal grandparents, Harold and Julia (May) Johnston, her uncle, Robert Crowley, and her brother-in-law, Adam Wise.
Services for Meghan will be announced in the spring.
