David Stuart Curtin 80 years young of St. Petersburg, Florida formally of
Acton, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, due to complications of a stroke
Born on July 3, 1945, in Mobile, Alabama to his mother Sylvia Davis Hammond and father Thomas William Curtin. David then became a resident of Acton Massachusetts with his parents. He later graduated from Acton-Boxborough Regional High School in 1963. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served honorably for six years. During his military service, he was stationed in Vietnam aboard the U.S.S. Coonz. His time in the Navy was a defining chapter in his life, marked by dedication and courage.
Following his military service, David pursued higher education and earned an associate degree in business. He began his civilian career at General Radio (GENRAD) in Concord, Massachusetts, where he worked for approximately 30 years. David eventually took the entrepreneurial leap and founded Curtin Enterprises, where he continued his professional journey as a purchasing agent.
In retirement, David found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially spending time with his wife and family, and soaking up the warmth of the Florida sun. He was affectionately known as Pop-Pop to his grandchildren and great-granddaughter, a title he wore with pride and love. His presence was magnetic; those who met him were drawn to his warmth, humor, and unmistakable charm. Though known for his stubborn streak, David's heart was undeniably pure gold.
He spent his retirement taking care of his wife and beloved cats. He always had "places to go, things to do and people to see". Among his favorite things were visiting all of his friends at his favorite restaurants.
David was a devoted family man who cherished time spent with his loved ones. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Barbara Curtin; his son Thomas Curtin and his wife Rachel Curtin, his son Christopher Curtin and fiancé Angelina Lavezzo, his grandchildren Sawyer, Anna, Spencer, Connor Curtin, Kara Harunkiewicz, and Cole Lavezzo, as well as his great-granddaughter Willow Curtin. He also leaves behind his many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sylvia Davis Hammond; his father, Thomas William Curtin; and his two sisters, Diane Doe and Patricia Carmichael.
A visitation will be held on October 28th, 2025, from 4-6PM at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Avenue (RT111), in Acton Massachusetts.
May his memory bring comfort and peace to all who knew and loved him.
