Mel "Melvin" Rohwer, 66, of Eldon, Missouri passed away Monday, February 2, 2026 at his residence in Eldon, Missouri. He was born August 15, 1959 in Davenport, Iowa the son of the late Harlan and Ruth Rose (Bimson) Rohwer. On June 14, 1980 in Eldon, Missouri he was united in marriage to Karen (Snodgrass) Rohwer and they shared 45 ½ years together. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include,

Sons, Adam Rohwer of Lake Ozark, MO; Aaron Rohwer (Katrina Underwood) of Eldon, MO; Alex Rohwer (Erin) of Eldon, MO

Grandchildren, Quinton Rohwer, Ryder Harlan Rohwer, Banx Rohwer, Ava Charlotte Rohwer

Father-in-law, Wally Wright

One Uncle and numerous cousins, the Bimson Family and Mike and Paula Sosnowski

Honorary friends, the Ruark Family, and lifelong friends and mentors, Royal Kallenbach, Walter Luthen, Keith Enloe, Clifford Hill and Bobby Newton.

Along with his parents, his mother-in-law, Carol Wright preceded him in death.

Mel was involved in numerous activities and hobbies; he was a prior Deacon at the First Baptist Church and taught 7th grade Sunday School and played on the church softball and volleyball teams for many years. He loved hunting, fishing, collecting guns, gravel roading and looking for turkey. He loved shooting skeet and trap, frog hunting, picking blackberries and he was a professional when it came to making bar-b-que. He enjoyed socializing and spending time with people who came into Mel's Appliance Store. Mel lovingly cared for his dad for 7 ½ years in his home. His greatest love was spending time with his family especially attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Mel will be best known for "never knowing a stranger" and his friendship and kindness to many.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Eldon, MO with a Memorial Service beginning at 4:00 PM with Rev. Bill Gernenz officiating. Burial will be held at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery in Davenport, IA at a later date.

Memorials in his name are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Eldon, MO.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, MO.
