Melanie DeWiggins Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ingram Funeral Home - Marysville on Dec. 24, 2025.
Melanie R. DeWiggins, 56, of Marysville, passed away early Tuesday morning, December 23, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital following a brief illness.

One of seven children, Melanie was born March 31, 1969, in Dayton to William David and Patricia Ruth (Buroker) Johnson. A graduate of Linden McKinley High School, she went on to receive her Associate's Degree from Columbus State Community College. After moving to Marysville, she joined the Eagles #3506, and there she met the love of her life, Richard M. "Rick" DeWiggins, and they married on March 11, 1999. They celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary this year before Rick's passing on August 5th.

Melanie worked as a secretary for Wilson Motors before working as a transportation logistics manager for Cassen Transport, a job she really enjoyed. In her free time, she was a quick and thorough reader who enjoyed reading "romantacy" novels when she wasn't watching UFC and boxing, or any real drama tv, such as Law & Order. While Melanie could be ornery, she was also very loyal – once she loved you, she loved you forever. She was a devoted caregiver to her family, especially her mother-in-law, Lois, and her husband, Rick, while they navigated their health struggles. She shined as "Mamaw" and "GiGi" and spent as much time as she could babysitting her grandkids – she simply loved being a grandma. Her family was her beloved circle, and she loved them with all she had.

She is survived by her children, Chris (Jamie) Johnson, and Shane (Elizabeth) DeWiggins; grandchildren Issac & Ellie Johnson, Christian & Deegan DeWiggins; siblings Billy Johnson, Rosemary Johnson, Robin (Daniel) Ruiz, and Virginia Johnson; as well as several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family members.

Along with her parents, and her beloved husband, Rick, Melanie was also preceded in death by sisters Deborah Harman and Tina Holtzclaw, and her mother-in-law, Lois DeWiggins.

Funeral services to celebrate Melanie's life will be held 11 am Monday, December 29, 2025, at Ingram & Snyder Funeral Home, 975 N. Maple St., Marysville, with Rev. James Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Broadway Cemetery next to her husband, Rick. Friends may call one hour prior to service time, beginning at 10 am at the funeral home.

In Melanie's memory, contributions may be made to the Memorial Hospital Foundation in care of the funeral home, to help assist local families who are battling cancer.

Ingram & Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve Melanie's family, and condolences may be expressed to them at www.IngramFuneralService.com.
