Melanie Head Hembree

Mrs. Melanie Head Hembree, 81, of Villa Rica, Georgia, passed away Friday, September 26, 2025 at home surrounded by family.

Melanie was born October 26, 1944 in Tampa, Florida, the daughter of the late John Edward Head and the late Josephine Edwards Head. She grew up in Cleveland, Georgia and graduated from White County High School in 1962. For 33 years, she was an Educator at Villa Rica High School and FBLA sponsor. Melanie attended University of West Georgia and University of Geogia receiving both her Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Business Education. She was an avid UGA and Atlanta Falcons football fan. She also loved the Atlanta Braves. Melanie loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. After she retired, she enjoyed traveling. She was a member for 50 years at Villa Rica First United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, MacArthur Hembree.

Melanie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Johannah and Jerry Womack of Villa Rica, GA, brother, Charles and Brenda Head of Cleveland, GA, sister-in-law, Melba Thomas of Villa Rica, grandchildren, Alex Womack, Abigail Womack and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at J. Collins Funeral Home.

Memorial Service will be conducted Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of J. Collins Funeral Home with Mr. Gary Thomas officiating. Tammy Thomas will give the eulogy.

The family would like to thank Melanie's caretaker, Jessica Thomason for bringing much love, compassion and warmth to both mom's life as well as ours. You made this hard journey much more peaceful.
