Melanie Ann Hurayt ObituaryMelanie Ann Hurayt, age 52, of
Mentor, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 24, 1972, Melanie lived a life filled with laughter, love, and a deep devotion to those she held dear.
She was the beloved wife of Gregory A. Hurayt, and the cherished mother of Jeremy Burkey, Joshua Burkey, Kimberly Burkey, Katie (Matt) Crouse, Sally E. Dolenc, and Nathan (Brooke) Hurayt. She was the proud and adoring Nana of Ariana Burkey, Sean Davis, Avah Davis, Harlee Davis, Mattilynn Burkey, Keith Davis, Alexandria Burkey, Arletta Crouse, and River Crouse.
Melanie was the loving sister of Robert (Nicole) Rosier, Marie Rosier, James (Amanda) Hodgson, and Brandon Hodgson, and the devoted aunt of Robert (Darla) Rosier, Angel Payne, Kash Rosier, Maraya Whitehair, Hallie Whitehair, Aaliyah Hodgson, James Hodgson, Jordan Hodgson, and Marcellus McClain. She was also the cherished great-aunt of Troy Rosier, Aiden Gillman, Maci Payne, Leah Payne, Robert Rosier, Alec Payne, Eva Rosier, Paisley Rosier, Clay Payne, and Ethan Rosier-each one of them loved deeply and uniquely by "Aunt Melanie."
Melanie was the glue of the family-the one who made every gathering feel like home. Whether it was a holiday, a birthday, a baby shower, or a backyard pool party, she was the heart behind it all, making sure everyone was fed, laughing, and loved.
She worked as a bartender at Spuddy's Tavern in Mentor-on-the-Lake, where she made lifelong friends and became a familiar, welcoming face to so many in the community. Behind the bar, she was just as she was at home-funny, kind, and always ready with a quick comeback or a comforting word. She had a natural gift for connecting with people and could make anyone feel like part of the family.
She had a huge heart and an even bigger personality. She was the life of every room she entered, with a quick wit, infectious laugh, and an unmatched ability to make everyone feel welcome-or hilariously roasted-depending on how much she liked you.
Known affectionately as "Mom" and "Mommy Dearest," Melanie was selfless beyond words. She would drop everything to help someone in need, often putting others before herself. Her siblings lovingly joked that she bailed them out-sometimes literally-more times than they could count. Beneath the humor was a woman of remarkable strength, intelligence, and loyalty.
Melanie's love for her family knew no bounds. She made sure everyone was taken care of, always going above and beyond to create memories that will be cherished forever. Though her time here was far too short, she filled every moment with laughter, compassion, and boundless energy.
Her family finds comfort in knowing that Melanie is now at peace in Heaven, reunited with her mom, Great Grandpa, Grandpa, and Ronnie. Her spirit will continue to watch over them, keeping everyone in line as only she could.
Melanie truly was one of a kind-a rare soul you're lucky to meet once in a lifetime. To know her was to love her, and to be loved by her was an incredible gift. Though she will be deeply missed beyond measure, her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched.
"Till we meet again, Mommy Dearest-no wire coat hangers."
The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center Street,
