Melba Peoples Burch, 70, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2024, at CaroMont Hospital with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Gaston County on February 20, 1954, to the late Melvin and Nellie Peoples. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Teresa Ann Bryant.
Melba was a good Christian woman who believed in Jesus Christ and raised her son in church. She was a loving and kind woman who was always the life of the party. She loved to shop, shag dance, listen to beach music, and go to the mountains and the beach. Most of all she loved her grandbabies and made many happy memories they will cherish forever.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, Earl Eugene Burch; son, Michael Burch (Molly); sister, Pamela Kay Fernandez (Richardo); grandchildren, Brady and Emerson; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, John Rogers (Julie), Kaitlin (N.J.) Fernandez (Olivia), Jordan Allen (Andrew), Cheyenne Adams (Aaron), Austin Fernandez (Cera); J.P., Trevor, Arden, Piper, Anson and Whitley
Family and friends will gather from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Dale Lawing officiating. Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia.
