Melba Stokes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McNett Funeral Home - Andrews on Dec. 4, 2025.
Melba Glen Stokes, 90, passed away peacefully in Odessa, Texas, on December 1, 2025, closing a long life marked by love, family, and faith. Born on July 9, 1935, in Winfield, Alabama, Melba lived a life rooted in the things that mattered most to her and carried a steady, quiet strength throughout her years.
Melba was married to the late Robert Revis Stokes for nearly fifty years following their marriage on January 26, 1956. She was a devoted wife and mother, and her family always remained at the center of her world. She is survived by her sons Jeffrey Alen Stokes and wife Donna of Onalaska, Texas, and Tony Stokes and wife Pamela of Odessa, Texas, and her daughter-in-law Verna Stokes of Braxton, Mississippi. Her sisters, Marshia Perez of Gilmer, Texas, and Pat Tadlock of Abilene, Texas, remain to honor her memory. Melba leaves behind a large and loving family of grandchildren-Robby Stokes, Aaron Stokes, Christa Stokes, Rachel Stokes, Samantha Stokes, and Robert Stokes-and great-grandchildren Ella, Adyn, Cailah, Evelyn, Nora, Wendelyn, Patric Jr., and Lilly.
She was preceded in death by her parents Glen Warren and Willow Dean White Warren, her husband Robert Revis Stokes, her son Robert Michael Stokes, her brothers Buddy Warren, Walter Warren, Ray Warren, Preston Warren, and Ricky Jo Warren, her sister Sue Sullens, and her grandson Christopher Stokes.
A long-time member and Sunday School Teacher of Grace Baptist Church, Melba's faith guided the way she lived and the way she treated others.
Melba enjoyed the simple routines that brought her joy-cooking meals that brought family together, tending the plants and flowers in her garden, and settling in for a Western movie or show. These everyday moments reflected her nature: patient, dependable, and content with the life she built.
Above all, Melba was a devoted mother. Her support, honesty, and quiet resilience shaped the lives of her children and left a lasting influence on those around her.Melba lived a life filled with purpose, steadiness, and care. Her family will carry her memory forward with love.
A visitation will take place at McNett Funeral Home on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 5 o'clock to 7 o'clock in the evening, followed by a graveside service the next day at Andrews North Cemetery on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 11 o'clock in the morning, with Aaron Stokes officiating.
