Melia Carol Peters

Melia Carol Peters, of Social Circle, beloved sister, aunt, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, at the age of 65.

Born on August 9, 1960, Melia was the cherished daughter of the late Hoyt and Alice Peters.

Melia graduated from Cedar Grove High School and later graduated from Atlanta Christian College (Point University). For more than 30 years, Melia dedicated herself to teaching, touching the lives of countless students with her warmth, patience, and passion for learning. Her legacy as an educator lives on in those she inspired to believe in themselves and embrace the joy of discovery.

Melia was an adventurer at heart. She loved traveling abroad and the ocean was where her heart truly felt at home. Whether walking along the shore or playing in the waves, she found peace and happiness by the water.

At home, Melia was never far from her beloved dogs, Macy and Kelly, who brought her endless comfort and companionship. She treasured time spent with her family and friends, sharing stories, laughter, and love that will be remembered always.

Melia is survived by her brother, Russell Peters (Patty), and her aunt, Juanita Peters, as well as members of her extended family — the Moon, Woodall, Peppers, and Peters families. She is predeceased by her parents, Hoyt and Alice Peters.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Ms. Melia Peters will be held Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home (1215 Access Road, Covington).

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Melia Peters may be made to Woodland Christian Camp or Point University.
