Obituary for
Melinda "Mindy" Howard
Mrs. Melinda "Mindy" (Montgomery) Howard of Weiner, Arkansas, departed this life on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the age of 55. She was born December 13, 1969 in Newport, the daughter of John Clarence and Madeline Carol (Hopkins) Montgomery.
Mindy graduated from Westside High School in 1988 and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Arkansas State University. She worked for 18 years at the Arkansas Department of Corrections, where she served as HR Supervisor at the McPherson Unit. Currently, she was the Director of Payroll Services at ASU-Newport and ASU in Jonesboro.
Mindy was a talented cook who enjoyed sewing and traveling with her family. She liked to pamper herself occasionally by having her nails painted. Mindy loved her dogs, Zeke, Bentley, and Roxy.
She cherished spending time at home with her family, especially with her grandson, Reese. Whether they were traveling, sharing a meal, working with Cassidy at The Ridge Market, or collaborating with her husband, Todd, at the family business, she found joy in every moment they spent together.
Mindy is survived by her husband of 32 years, Todd Howard; one son, Cody Howard of Midway; one daughter, Cassidy Howard Biggers and husband, Zach of Harrisburg; one grandchild, Brantley Reese Biggers; two brothers, Jerry Montgomery and wife, Angela of Jonesboro, and Aaron Montgomery of Weiner; four sisters, Ann Montgomery of Weiner, Tina Montgomery of Trumann, Sandra Schwarz and husband, Tony of Weiner, and Stephanie Montgomery of Bono; several nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Sunday, 3:00-5:00 p.m. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Monday at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Balch-Johnston Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Trevor Wigginton, Russel Howard, Wendell Bell, Tanner Polston, Preston Aitkens, Troy Hill, Alex Nicholson, and Dakota Tucker.
