Melinda "Mindy" Dyann Stair, age 59, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025 at home surrounded by her family after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born on October 14, 1965. She is preceded in death by her father, Ned Peart and mother, Nancy Humphrey (Coontz) and step-dad, Robert Humphrey.
She is survived by her three daughters, Tracy (Josh) Lape, Elizabeth (Sean) Stair, and Tara (Eric) Smith; siblings, Mark (Thelma) Peart, Marilynn Helsel, Drew (Britney) Peart; step-sisters, Deborah (Robin) Sarnel, Susan (Clinton) Bratt; seven grandchildren (to them, she was known as "Grammy"), Madison, Gavin, Drake, Ruby, Ryker, Xander, and Paxton; many nieces and nephew, cousins, uncle and aunt, and many friends.
She was a graduate of Briggs High School in 1984. She worked for the State of Ohio and the Franklin County Board of Elections. Mindy, had a passion to help people and took care of everybody. She then decided to end her career at Franklin Woods Nursing and Rehab facility.
Mindy had a passion for cooking and gardening. She loved to spend time with her sister, sitting on the patio. Mindy's favorite animals were cardinals and elephants. She continued the love for cooking, just like her mom. We would always gather for meals and she would always cook enough for an army! Mindy was loved by everyone that knew her and she will be greatly missed by all that are left behind.
The family would like to give thanks to the James Cancer Hospital and OhioHealth Compassus Hospice. We would also like to give extra thanks to her hospice nurse, JoAnne. The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
